Hope your having a great week!  It is my "weekend" for the next few days so one of my girlfriends (who is also a nurse and is off during the week) and I are hitting the town! So excited! I had a rough few days at work so I can't wait to have a few drinks and dance all the stress away!

Outside of my blogging life, my real life is actually quite opposite to the (at times) materialistic ways of my blog.  To pay the bills, I work as a registered nurse fulltime at a hospital near to my home.  I love my job, although there are certainly days that I want to break down and never go back.  So, as a nurse in the thick of the healthcare system I see the need for blood donations on a day to day basis.  I recently went to donate and wanted to spread the word on how easy it is to do here on my blog!

Honestly, it only takes about 45 minutes of your time and you feel great knowing that you have made a difference to someone (and trust me, I have given many blood transfusions to patients and they are like new people once they have received that blood, not to mention people that need it in life threatening situations!).

And if your still not convinced, you might be glad to know that donating is equivalent to burning 700 calories! So you can skip the gym that day! AND you get cookies and juice once you are done! Not bad, right?

Google Blood services in your area to make an appointment and bring some good karma your way!

I actually took these pictures quite a while ago and rediscovered them last night. A little depressing to see the nice warm weather and shorts again.  Over the last week or so we have jump head first into the cold, rainy weather.  On the bright side, it means Halloween and Christmas are on their way!! SO excited for decorations!

Have a great day!

If you follow me on Instagram (aandreaclare) you probably already know that I was away in Las Vegas last weekend with a few of my girlfriends.  We had an amazing time so I thought I would share a few pictures from the trip.

Overall, it was an a great little getaway but holy smokes - Vegas is exhausting!! I certainly do not rebound back from late nights like I used to.  On the second night we were tempted to have a lazy night in but we managed to get ourselves together and were out dancing until the wee hours of the morning.  So glad we did! Typically my girlfriends and I are pretty tame people so we were quite proud of ourselves for going out all three nights and attending many of the clubs!

I posted this picture on my Instagram the other day and a few people voiced some interest in it.  It is honestly the easiest and tastiest soup.  I had actually made it that day because it was the first day that had started to feel like fall.  So, naturally, I put on my first scarf of the season and headed to the grocery store for the ingredients for my favorite fall soup.

Here is what you’ll need:
-1 carton low sodium chicken stock (about 1 liter or enough to cover the veggies in the pot)
-1 package onion soup mix (I usually only use half to cut down on salt)
-1 can diced tomatoes
- veggies of choice (I used baby carrots, yellow and orange bell peppers [two of each], a ton of spinach, celery, cauliflower, onion, garlic, golden potatoes, zucchini, kale)
-1 can of chick peas
- yellow mustard
-Franks red hot sauce
-black pepper
-Mrs. Dash seasoning
- vinegar (I just used rice vinegar because that is that I had)
-any other herbs/spices that appeal to you!

First, I dice up all the veggies into bite size pieces (I keep the pieces pretty big because I like a chunky soup), adding the veggies that will take longest to cook down in first.  Once all the veggies are in the pan and have started their cooking process, I add the chicken stock, can of tomatoes, and onion soup mix and add all the “flavourings” I desire/have in the fridge, along with the remainder of the ingredients. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes or until your veggies are tender!

I am a huge believer in having protein in even meal as it keeps me full and stops me from digging in the fridge for snacks.  So, I always make sure to add some form to this soup.  I added chick peas to this batch but often I will add roasted or baked chicken to it.

It also freezes well, so I generally make a huge batch and portion it into Tupperwear and take it to work throughout the week!

P.S – Don’t skip on the starch! (I used potatoes but you can use pasta or rice if you prefer) as it acts as a thickening agent and therefore makes the soup much more satisfying and delicious!

I definitely think there is a right and a wrong wear to wear denim on denim.  You have to be careful or it can come off very hillbilly.  In my opinion, the easiest way to pull it off is to use two different coloured denims.  I also like to choose pieces that err on the feminine side so I don’t feel too frumpy.  This fitted top, my favourite skinny jeans and red lip do just that.

The boyfriend and I were both abandoned by our families this Thanksgiving so we are busy bee's tonight preparing our own mini dinner.  Instead of turkey we are doing a small roast chicken along with all the fixings including stuffing, veggies and mash potatoes.  Everything covered in butter of course! We were quite proud of the stuffing in particular, it looks like the real stuff! We'll see how it all turns out!

Time to go check the chicken!

My friend and I headed out the the seawall today to shoot this. Definitely a lot of learning going on - neither of us knew what we were doing! Haha. I hope you find it to be even mildly entertaining!!

I picked these shoes up last week and couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.  I love the edge they add to any outfit and the leather is SO soft.  I can definitely see myself wearing these with a variety of outfits all fall long.

Also, this is the first scarf of the season for me! It wasn’t even all that cold out  (hence the short sleeves) but I just couldn’t resist when getting dressed.
