A LINE

Dress (worn as skirt) - H&M
Shirt - Joe Fresh
Bag - Vintage

I am always a sucker for a dress with an A line silhouette.  I probably should lean more towards silhouettes like pencil skirts due to the fact that I am constantly being told that I look much younger than my age.  These A line shapes certainly do not help.  But I can't deny my love for them.  I just find them to be so fun, girly, flattering on my body shape and super comfy!

INTO MY CLOSET

Just a few things that have made their way into my closet recently.

I am most excited about the anorak.  I have literally been looking for the perfect anorak for about 2 years.  There have been so many shopping trips in which I found an anorak that would “do the trick” but never really ticked all the ‘perfect anorak’ boxes.  The perfect anorak for me had to be the perfect shade of army green, slightly distressed, have a tie at the waist (and actually sit at my waist), have big slouchy pockets and a hood, be made of a thin fabric and fit perfect at the shoulder (nobody likes a football player shoulder).   I was so thankful when the search came to an end at Aritzia a few weeks ago!

Hard to believe I had steamed this dress just before taking these pictures.  Gotta love linen, but holy smokes does it wringle!

VINTAGE LACE

Belt - Urban Behaviour
Bag - Vintage
Shoes - Joe Fresh
Top - Vintage

One of the things I love about vintage shopping is snagging a gem like this one.  I found this lace top in a vintage shop years ago and it has been a beloved part of my clothing collection ever since.  It doesn't have any real tags in it so I have a feeling someone hand made it.  It even has a few imperfections in the croche that gives it even more character and charm.  I also love that the lace isn't a typical floral design, it has more a sunburst pattern and the material it is made of has a slinky feeling to it that makes it oh-so-comfy and perfect for a summers evening.

LIFE IS GOOD

I hope you can excuse my being MIA.  I have been busy the last little while living unplugged in the woods.

Yup, can’t complain.

PLAY BALL

Top – Joe Fresh
Cut offs – DIY

Today the boyfriend and I headed out to see the Canadians play some ball.  His brother works for the team so we were able to get some tickets for free which is always nice.  Thankfully our seats were in the shade otherwise I think I would be suffering from heat stroke right now.

After the game we headed out for some iced coffee to enjoy while reading the paper in the sun.  Perfect Sunday before heading back to work tomorrow.

SIMPLE STROMBOLI

I saw this recipe on an episode of The Chew last week.  It took them minutes to whip up and looked so delicious! So I decided to give it a shot and it turned out finger lickin' good.  It took everything in me to save some for the boyfriend and not eat the whole thing to myself.  And the best part is that it is so flexible, you can put anything you want in it!

Here's what you'll need:

Pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
A protein of your choice
Vegetables you like
Oil to saute veggies
Mozzarella cheese (as much as you like)
Pasta Sauce
Salt and pepper

Prepare a pizza dough.  I used quick rising yeast and whole wheat flour for mine.  Spread it out on your baking sheeting in an oblong shape.

Brown your meat.  I used a spicy Italian sausage and removed the meat from its casing.  I like to let the meat become extra brown, almost burnt.  I just like the flavor better.

Saute your veggies of choice.  I used broccoli, yellow and orange bell peppers, onion and garlic.  Season to taste.

Spread out a generous layer of spaghetti sauce and add your meat, veggies and cheese on top.  Sprinkle with Parmesan.

Roll it up and lay it seam side down.  Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.  Bake in 450 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden.

Slice and enjoy!

Anniversary Weekend

As mentioned in my last post, the boyfriend and I headed to Whistler for the weekend to celebrate surviving 6 years together, haha.  We had an amazing time wandering the village aimlessly, eating delicious unhealthy foods and lounging pool side.  We made the most of our time despite all the rain!

[First stop was a cool beer and an obscenely large portion of nachos]

[strolling around the village.  You can only see a very small portion of the mountain, it's actually much much larger than visible here!]

[the view of the mountain/pool from our balcony.  The mountain is converted into mountain biking trails during the summer]

[Rocky Mountain fudge.  Yes, we consumed all of this.]

[Saturday we had planned to spend the day at the spa but we couldn't justify spending all that money! So we opted to spend the day hiking for free in the rain! We were both soaked and covered in mud by the end of it - it was awesome! We also both forgot our phones so we had no sense of time during our adventure.  It was such a cool feeling being out the middle of the forest with almost no one around us and having no idea what time of day it was!]

[in the evening we went out for a yummy dinner]

[delicious spinach and feta dip and agave nectar sweetened margarita]

[Sunday we were back in Vancouver for Canada Day.  We packed up a much needed healthy picnic and headed to Kitsilano Beach via bicycle]

[sporting my patriotic red and white stripes in the last few minutes of the weekend sun]
