When all else fails, wear stripes. Better yet, go monotone. You can never go wrong with a classic stripe and a completely colourless outfit, in my opinion.
I snagged this striped top at forever21 not too long ago but unfortunately, I couldn't find it on the site. Sorry :( But I did try to find a few options that are similar to this one (links above and below this write up).
I really loved the flowy fabric it's made of and the variation in stripes. It works perfecty worn thrown over my shoulders (much like I would do with a coat) and tied around my waist. I'd highly recommend adding some stripes to your life!
For ages I was really drawn to any top that was cropped, but lately it's been the exact opposite. I've been reaching for more over sized, long pieces (especially anything that is black or white). It seems like all over a sudden all my favourite shirts have been pushed to the back of my closet. Not sure what has caused the drastic change in opinion but for now I'll embrace the new obsession.
I had some fun styling a few black infused outfits with some of my favourite dark pieces for fall. A lot of the items are vintage finds so hopefully this will inspire you to go dig through your local thrift store for hidden gems!
Funny story that goes along with these pictures. Originally we had planned to take these pictures near the river (just beyond the trail you see in the first picture). But not far into our walk, we noticed rather large paw prints through the trail. Very large paw prints. Not likely dog paws. Since we were camping near the mountain and close to a river, we concluded they were bear prints! SO scary! They were fresh, too! I couldn't get out of the forest fast enough! Getting a nice shot near the river wasn't going to be worth losing a limb!
Long story short, we ended up taking the pictures along the road. A good distance from where the hungry bears might be, haha.
When I spotted this kimono at forever 21 over the summer, I knew I had to have it. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to wear it, but I knew it would be something that would come in handy whenever I needed to spice up an outfit in a hurry. Because it is so neutral (both in colour and pattern) it works so easily with anything I already have on.
Now I'm on the hunt for a similar piece that is a little more fall friendly. The weather here in Vancouver is going to get chilly very quickly so I'll need something a little more substantial than this little kimono. Suggestions? Leave me links below if you have something in mind!
Well summer has officially come and gone. It's currently pouring outside and I'm cuddled up on the couch with a warm drink and a blanket. Quite the contrast to when we took these pictures.
As much as I love summer and joke about wanting to move to a year round warm climate, I really do love the change in seasons. I'm getting excited to add layers to outfits and enjoy pumpkin spice lattes in front of the fireplace.
He wanted to throw this shirt out. I have a soft spot for anything Adidas so, I had to keep it. It's such a great shirt! I wear it out to pick up groceries and run errands but I also wear it to bed sometimes! I swear, pre-loved, broken in clothes are just the best.
With the arrival of fall weather, I'm having to add that extra layer when it gets chilly in the evening. A denim jacket is so easy to take along by throwing it over your shoulders, wrapping it around your waist or draping over your purse.
While I am excited to change up my wardrobe and layer like crazy, I always miss the summer. AND it means we are that much closer to Christmas! YAY!
