a blonde girl poses in front of beautiful sunset in italy on the beach

Back to a few stragglers from our Italy pictures today.

Ok, in my opinion, Italy really does have the most beautiful sunsets in the world. They also have the most beautiful beaches (see my beach day in Tropea post HERE and Italy video diary HERE to see what I mean). It honestly doesn't look real when it's happening in front of you. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Italy, I strongly recommend you try to make your way to the tiny town of Tropea. Just google it, and I guarentee you'll want to go.

Over the summer, my best friend and I took every opportunity to get together knowing that I would be moving to London in the Fall. As much as I love being in the city, visiting her part of town on the waters edge is perfect for a casual girls night in. She lives in a cute little area that is steps away from a ton of great restaurants and bars. And the best part is, they are all a hop, skip and a jump away from the ocean, literally. We could have thrown a stone from the patio we had dinner on into the ocean next to us. It's beautiful.

On this particular evening, we hung out at her apartment for a few hours before heading down to the water where we took a few of these pictures. For dinner, we picked a popular spot called Charlie don't Surf. It's not the fanciest of places, but it's good for a burger and a beer. We split a chicken burger, fries and an order of the calamari. YUM! And of course, a few beers. Our version of champagne, haha.

It was a perfect night for the two of us girls. You can't beat burgers, beer and a beautiful sunset on the beach.

T-shirt - Forever21
Skirt- The Gap
Sandals - Old Navy (last seen here and here)
Bag - Prada (see the review of this bag HERE)

You know when you try on an article of clothing and it just feels - BAM! It fits perfect and makes you feel pretty damn awesome. That was my experience with this skirt. I always gravitate towards A-line skirts because they suit my body type best. But there was something about this modified A-line skirt that just makes me feel great. It fits me to a T at the waist, it's short but not too short, it's a perfect neutral colour that will go with everything, and the cherry on top - it's lace. It's a basic, go-to piece in my closet that I've worn time and time again both casually (like in this post) as well as dressed up for date night with heels.

I paired it with my favourite graphic tee I got from Forever21 ages ago. Again, it fits like a glove and is super comfortable. I probably wear it way too often. I love the deep V neckline and the cheeky peek of my lace bralette poking through!

Happy Sunday!

a collage of cable knit sweaters put together by a fashion blogger

A few weeks ago, one of my girlfriends asked me about fall essentials. She was planning a big shopping trip and wanted to make sure she had the right items on her wishlist before heading out on her big shop for the season. One of the items I told her she needed to keep an eye out for was a cozy cable knit sweater. It didn't have to be an expensive one, there are plenty of great options at places like Forever21 or even at a vintage shop. It just had to be super cozy and scream warm, snuggly fall evenings on the couch.

Personally, I love a classic ivory cable knit. One that reminds me of something my mom would knit my sister and I when we were little.  I also like my cable knit sweater to have a little wiggle room. Meaning, room to eat lots of Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas treats and all other yummy fall eats. The one I'm wearing in the picture above is actually my fianc├ęs sweater. Being a men's sweater, it's  perfectly oversized on me. I really love mock neck and turtleneck versions as well.  If I meet another cable knit I love this season, it'll likely be the mock neck version of this one. THIS one is also on my radar at the moment.

Shop a few of my favourite cable knits here:

What's on your fall essential list this season? I listed off about 5 things for my friend to shop for, I'll share a few more here on the blog over the next few weeks.

As I mentioned in my last hair post (see the post HERE and another HERE), I'm always trying out new braids and simple up-do's that I love for days I don't want to wash my hair. Typically, I like to wash my hair every second or third day (depending on my gym schedule). By the third day, I'm looking for hairstyles to pull my hair away from my face without resorting to a classic top knot.

I threw my hair into this twisted style a few weeks ago and really loved the way it turned out. Since my hair is naturally very fine and slick when it's freshly washed (it'll hardly hold a bobby pin on day 1), I really don't think this hair style would look nearly as good if my hair was fresh. Having my hair unwashed (and down right dirty!) is what gives it a messy, piece-y, carefree kind of look.

It was super easy to create, which is always a plus.  I think the first step has to be : start with dirty hair! Next, just separate two pieces of hair on one side of your head, twist the pieces in opposite directions and then wrap them around one another. Tie an elastic on it and repeat on the other side. I used a clear elastic to hold it together in the back to give it a seamless look. Lastly, pull a few pieces out around your face. I usually prefer to have a few pieces out around my face, but it's not necessary if you prefer not to.

I hope you like it! Send me pictures on Instagram (aandreclare) or snapchat (aandreaclare) if you try it out! I would LOVE to see!

Prada Saffiano Double Zip Handbag

About 10 months ago, I was lucky enough to be shopping in Holt Renfrew, looking to purchase my first designer handbag. I had always admired all the beautiful bags but didn't really think I'd have one of my own anytime soon.

Prada has always been a favourite of mine. Chanel was also on the short list but a was little out of budget at the time. I did look around at Celine, Dior and a few others, but kind of knew what I was there for. As a very indecisive person, I certainly took my time with a few favourites in the Prada store. Touching, trying, sending pictures to Ken and maybe a few sneaky sniffs, haha.  But my gut told me the double zip was going to be the one.  I was SO close to going with this slightly larger clay coloured version, but I knew black would be a better option for my first designer bag. I can thank Ken for talking me off the ledge.

I can't say enough good things about this bag.  It really is a perfect first designer bag. It works perfectly with casual outfits and can easily transition to dressy looks by removing the cross body strap. It is also extremely spacious.  I make good use of the space in the double zips, which leaves me with plenty of extra space in the centre portion.  Typically, I have an umbrella, my wallet, makeup, some sort of snack, a point and shoot camera, my phone and still have space for extra stuff in there.  I have found it to be so universal, I hardly even touch my other bags. The leather is a slightly textured leather, which I actually prefer because it makes it much more durable. I now also own the Chanel Wallet on Chain in lambskin and I find I'm a little hesitant to use it because it is so delicate. I'm always afraid I'll end up in the rain or bump it against something that will scratch it, which is a shame because I don't use it as often as I should.  The leather on the Prada is stiff and has held its shape beautifully. I can't say I've used it gently, I've certainly put it through the ringer, yet it looks brand new. Hardly a scratch or dent on it. I mean, this thing had been through the rain, travelled through Italy and London with me, had been squished into my carry on bags, had food spilt on it - and it has held up without a problem.

If you're looking for a really great, all weather, rough and tough kind of designer bag. I would certainly recommend the Prada Double Zip. I honestly can't believe how much of a beating it has taken and how well it has come out the other side. I think it'll be my go-to everyday bag for years and years to come.

Both Ken and I have a major sweet tooth.  I sometimes joke that all my teeth are sweet teeth. The addiction is so bad that we have both been known to have cake for breakfast on more than one occasion.

When Ken first moved to London over a year ago, he was on a mission for some tasty treats (as well as studying hard, of course!).  He popped into a little shop called Hummingbird Bakery on Portobello Road, not far from our flat.  It both a good and a very bad thing that it's such a short walking distance from home.  Anyways, he has been making weekly visits to the bakery ever since.  He particularly loves the giant woopie pies.  Naturally, I had to see what all the fuss was about when I arrived. I went for the classic vanilla cupcake and had to document with a few pictures. Every bite was heaven and  I can't wait to get back to try the red velvet!

Once the big move to London got closer and closer, I jumped at every chance I had to hang with the family. So when my mom invited me out for a quick dog walk, I through on my Nike's with the outfit I had already been wearing for the day, and ran out the door after her and family pup!

Although I hadn't really planned the outfit, it ended up being something that I really liked. Mom agreed to take pictures for me while Chico ran free in the park. So, here it is. My 'impromptu dog walk' look!
