VACATION SHOPPING

11. Choies Dress 12. Ankle Strap Sandal 13. Gem Stone Clutch ( Currently 40% off)

The hours are winding down to the start of my vacation and I couldn't be more excited.  I've spent my last weekend at home picking up a few last minute items and pulling together a few outfits for the trip. Honestly, I'm not the best packer.  I tend to bring everything but the kitchen sink but I'm going to do my best to set limits this time around since we will be traveling quite a bit in the three weeks away. I'm excited to share some of our trip here on the blog throughout the trip.  Make sure to also follow along on my instagram (aandreaclare) and snapchat (aandreaclare) for more frequent updates on the trip!

In case you missed it or don't follow me on youtube, here is a recent haul of a few (or a lot) of things that I've bought recently.  I've been doing some serious damage for my up coming trip to London and Italy so I figured I'd show you what I've been buying.  It includes a lot of dresses since they will be my staple while traveling! All the link to the items are in the description box of the video (on the youtube website) if your interested in buying any of them :)

If you're more of a vlog / video diary type of person, here is my latest in that department :)

So, the title is a little misleading.  As a nurse, I wear nothing but scrubs all week long.  As comfortable as it to wear scrubs (which are basically pyjamas), it leaves my inner fashionista itching to come out on the weekends.  So I generally end up in a outfit a little more jazzy on the weekends. This outfit is typical of what I would wear for my commute into work in the morning. Once I arrive at work, I change into scrubs for the day, and then I change back into my outfit after my shift.  I usually opt to wear an outfit that I actually like to work, even if it is just for my commute time.  I feel better about myself, happier and more excited for the day when I feel put together!

HAIRSPIRATION : PRADA BOW

Prada ribbon

prada bow

After I bought my first (and only) Prada bag, it took me a couple of weeks to part with the shopping bag it came in.  It was so darn pretty! I did eventually manage to get rid of it, but I made sure to keep the little Prada ribbons and duster bag it came with. I knew I'd find a use for them at some point, and I did!

I love an easy and quick hair style and it doesn't get much easier than this.  I literally just tied the Prada ribbon around all my hair in a loose pony tail.  The key is to have your hair already curled (I had curled mine a few days beforehand), to keep it very loose (don't tie your hair in a ponytail with another hair tie before adding the ribbon) and to pull a few shorter pieces out in the front by your face.  And there you go! I free way to decorate yourself in a beautiful Prada ribbon!

For those of you that enjoy my vlogs, here's a new one!

Recently I've really been loving the look of a sleek pair of slacks.  Especially ones with a crease down the centre.  I paired mine with this edgy tiger sweater and leather coat to keep the outfit very casual for the weekend.  But I could easily dress them up with a flowy top and make these slacks much more feminine.  These ones fit me perfectly because of the slightly loose fit through the hips and the way they sit low on my waist.  I rolled mine at the hem to show a little ankle, which I think makes them a little more flattering and interesting as well.

I will say, this kind of thing is very hard to buy online because it's ALL about the fit.  However, I've linked a few of my favourite options from around the web just to give you a better look at the style of the pant.

Sometimes I over think outfits.  More often than not, I'll open up my closet, put an outfit together and think it's not interesting enough or it's missing something... or what I like to call "not blog worthy" and proceed to add extra details (like jewellery or afunky pair of shoes) to try to spice up the outfit.  Lately I've really been trying to hold back on adding these extra "things" to outfits and just keep it basic and simple. I find when I keep it simple, it's not only less stressful to get dressed in the morning, but I actually feel much more chic and effortless than when I wear a "planned" outfit!

What is your style process? Do you try on a million outfits before deciding on one? or do you like to keep it basic?

My inner Lennon was coming out the day we took these pictures.  I feel like the sunglasses completely change the whole vibe of the outfit.  Without the sunglasses, it would be more preppy, school girl, feminine.  With the sunglasses, it feels much more styled and fashion forward (at least in my opinion!). I can totally understand why people spend a ton of money on one pair of sunglasses. It's amazing how a funky pair can make you feel like a different person! If I had money pouring from my pockets, I would certainly own a lot more designer sunglasses and bags.

best of platforms

platform shoes

4. Choies

I've been on a mad hunt for the perfect platform shoe for my upcoming trip to London and Italy.  A good platform is not only much easier to walk in than a traditional heel, but they SO much more comfortable while still giving you that added height. Perfect for long travel days, festivals or a full day of shopping!

Which is your favourite? I'm kind of leaning towards a black strap and wooden platform...(but I'm very tempted to splurge on THESE perfect Prada ones!)

Jeans - H&M / DIY - Same idea HERE

Ever wonder what bloggers wear when they are just sitting at home doing nothing? Well, this is one version you might catch me in. Assuming of course its mid-day and I'm not already in my pj's.

The reason this is more of an "off-duty" outfit is because it's not very photogenic for my body type. Although I love a good t-shirt a jeans ensemble, the proportions just don't work for me.  I tend to hold most of my "extra" weight in my hips and thighs.  Because of this, I tend to grab for A-line dresses, skirts or long (and very oversized) tops that drape over my hips and help to make them appear smaller and slimmer.  Dressing your body is all about an illusions and how to eye perceives the shapes your creating with your clothing!  Once you get to know what works for your body type, loving your clothing and your body is so much easier! Also, the camera does add 10lbs (as the saying goes). So, for all these reasons, very rarely will you catch me in an outfit of this nature on the blog.  But I thought I'd share this outfit for demonstration purposes :)
