Since I spent my first week in London exploring the city on my own, I was so excited for Ken to wrap up with school so we could finally enjoy a date night out. As soon as he finished his last exam, I raced out to Regents Park to meet him for a late lunch of pizza and beer.  It was so nice to finally spend sometime together, as an engaged couple, without Ken having to worry about school.  After lunch, we headed home to finish up some last minute chores in preparation for our flight out to Italy the next day (more to come on our travel experience, it was madness).  In the evening, we had a few more celebratory drinks and small tapas around Portobello Market and spent the night chatting away. We had to be up at 2:30 in the morning to catch our flight, so we made sure to make it an early dinner to ensure we'd get a few hours rest before our travels.

I also vlogged the whole day, which you can watch HERE or subscribe to my YOUTUBE channel HERE so you get notifications of future uploads :)

Our Engagement Video Diary

If you caught my last post, you'll know I recently got engaged to my long time boyfriend and high school sweetheart. I filmed part of our first day as an engaged couple so we could have something to look back on. We've only been engaged a few weeks and it's already a lot of fun to watch back :) Hope you enjoy :)

I'M ENGAGED!

9 years in the making (not including our puppy love high school romance which was 11 years ago? - CRAZY!) and we are at last engaged!  I must say, he totally shocked me.  I actually thought he had something up his sleeve for when he returned home in the summer.  I'm so glad I was wrong!

The big question happened at home, in his apartment, in London before we headed out to see Peter Pan at the open air theatre in Regents Park.  Luckily we had perfect summer weather that night because he planned a lovely picnic with champagne in a grassy area before the show.  It was simple, perfect and I couldn't be happier.

I'm still in shock I have this ring on my finger! Not sure when that'll sink in...

On my second full day in London, I decided to venture out of our little area and hop on the tube to Oxford street to do a little shopping.  I'll be honest, the tube system is a little intimidating at first.  Especially when you don't have data on your phone to redirect you.  Luckily, I didn't end up having any problems with the tube but I did run into trouble when construction through Oxford street put a kink in my pre planned route to Shake Shack where I was meeting Ken for dinner.  I easily could have ducked into a shop to connect to wifi and figure out where the heck I was but I was determined to get there using my sense of direction and what I could remember from the maps.  And I did eventually make it there! I couldn't believe it! On foot, in the middle of rush hour, without a map or wifi I was able to navigate my way from one end of Oxford street to Shake Shack (without even knowing what the place looked like!) in time to meet Ken!

It was my first time eating at Shake Shack. Ken loves it there, so I had to give it a go. Unfortunately, I'm sensitive to lactose so I couldn't try the shakes but the burger and fries were finger lickin' good.  And I was perfectly happy to have a cold beer in my hand anyway.  After a long day of weaving my way through London, a cold beer and some greasy grub was exactly what I needed.

I'M IN LONDON!

Arriving at YVR
Up up and away
Beautiful apartment buildings everywhere
Discovering tile on our stroll through Ken's Neighbourhood
Lunch time from M&S
The cutest rose filled entrance
Candy coloured homes on Portobello road
Costa Latte
Our home.

I made it to London!

I was pretty tired on my first afternoon in London.  I hardly slept a wink on my red eye flight. I forgot how tiny and uncomfortable those seats are!

However, I was hit with a shot of adrenaline when I spotted Ken at the airport and I had a chance to see the city I'll soon call home.

Our first stop was M&S.  I had heard all about it (along with Costa, Primark, Selfriges..) from vloggers that I watch, so I get very excited about these little things. We took a stroll through the neighbourhood on the way to the store and took a million pictures.  We picked up some lunch and few treats and then headed back to the apartment for a quick nap before heading out for dinner.

Once I woke from my much needed nap, we headed to Portobello Market area looking for a pub for a beer and some grub.  We took our time getting there while Ken pointed out some of his favourite coffee shops and restaurants, and I took a few pictures of the pretty buildings. We eventually sat down at a little pub near the end of Portobello Market and had some traditonal fish and chips, flatbread and a few beers.

It was a long and exciting day and I slept like a baby all night. Fingers crossed I'm on London time now.
