All that hustle and bustle and POOF - Christmas is over for another year. Sad times in my books. I'm always a little blue for a few days after Christmas as I come to the realization I won't get to watch my beloved Christmas movies for a whole year. But the cool thing about this year is that it was our last year as singletons! Crazy! Next Christmas will be our first year as Mr. and Mrs. and I can't wait! Who knows where we will be and what we will be doing in a year from now!

Jumping back a few weekends ago, when Ken had a VERY rare afternoon away from the computers and books. He had originally planned to study all day but being the very supportive fiancé that I am, I convinced him to ditch the books and spend the afternoon with me! Seriously though, the guy was JUST getting over a flu and works non-stop. I'm a firm believer in letting your brain rest and waking up feeling more motivated than ever when you just give yourself a moment to breathe.

frozen lake in canada

Since the snow was coming down with no signs of stopping, I wanted to take full advantage and head into the cold. We live relatively close to Granville Island, so we decided to make to short trip over there for a wander around. The small body of water just under the bridge that is usually occupied with ducks, was completely frozen over and had been taken over by a bunch of eager hockey players. We couldn't believe it was actually cold enough to freeze hard enough to skate on, but those guys were playing hard enough that they must have been pretty confident in it.

If you've followed my blog for a while now, you might recognize this sweater from THIS post. It was one of Ken's expensive sweaters that he mistakenly struck it to half its size not long after buying it. His loss is my gain :) It's turned into one of my warmest and most loved knitted sweaters :)

I definitely should have been wearing my cozy winter boots for this adventure, but in true blogger fashion, I went with the impractical but stylish ones instead. Needless to day, I couldn't feel my toes after about 20 minutes of walking around Granville Island. Ken was pretty darn frozen himself (plus he was still kicking the tail end of his flu), so we opted to head inside to one of our favourites restaurants on the Island called, Sandbar.

What better way to warm up than with some cozy Christmas cocktails while sitting fireside! I went with my classic old Fashioned and Ken had an Irish Coffee.  We sat there for a good hour, warming our extremities, watching the snow fall on the water outside. It was exactly what both of us needed.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season! Now, onto 2017!

youtube video about home decor from home sense

I've been dreaming about doing this video for literally years.

I'm a shopper. I think that is pretty evident. So living in London, in a very small flat, that we knew we would only be living in for a year - let me tell you - it was SO hard not to shop for home decor items. I'm the biggest thrift shopper I know, so living in London, one of the best places the hunt thrift - it took everything in me not to shop!

Now that we are back home and found an apartment that we will hopefully be in for a while, I finally have the green light to decorate! As you might be able to tell from my last decor post HERE, our new place is in a heritage building. It's full of charm! We added to the charm by going with a mid century  modern vibe (and as you'll see in the video - GOLD theme). The gold was very unintentional and I swear, the whole house isn't gold, but it just so happens that I love gold accents and accessories :)

I hope you enjoy the video and that it brings some sort of inspiration!

Click the video below to watch the whole thing :)

Don't forget to follow on Instagram (aandreaclare), Youtube (aandreaclare), snapchat (aandreaclare) and Twitter (aandreaclare) so you don't miss out when these videos go live!

It's crunch time! And if you are like everyone else in the world, you're scrambling for a few last minute stocking stuffers. You know, nothing too huge, but the small things that your loved one wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves, they probably don't need, but it's still fun to open on Christmas morning.

I've put together a little list of a few of my favourite things from one of my favourite sites to shop. ASOS! When we lived in London, I would say about 90% of my shopping was done on that site. They have it all! AND if you live in the UK, and are signed up for expedited shipping - you stuff shows up on your doorstep the next morning!

Even if you aren't based in the UK, the delivery is generally pretty darn quick. So get shopping!

If nothing on ASOS tickles your fancy, I would also check out your local Sephora to pick up something like this beautiful lipstick or Indigo for a small thing like this Mini Emergency Kit that every lady needs in their life :)

Happy Shopping!

This is crazy! How are we only a few days away from Christmas! It's weird, some years it feels like Christmas takes for ever to come around, but this year I feel like I've hardly had enough time to watch my favourite christmas movies 100 times. I think Ken would disagree - I' driving him mental with the Santa Clause and Home Alone 2 on repeat. All. Day. Long.

We had another big snow fall here in the city a few days ago. Now that I live nice and close to work (a year ago I had about a 25 minute commute into the hospital) I'm actually really enjoying the snow. Not worrying about how I'll get into work or how bad the traffic will be has been wonderful! Although I find myself waking up early each day, wondering if work is going to give me a ring as a last stitch effort to fill in for missing staff that couldn't make it themselves.
what to wear in the snow

As much as I love to dress up, I have found myself wearing this outfit (+/- leggings and a different comfy top) almost everyday. Especially on days I'm working because it's SO comfy and there is so need to get all dolled up at 6am. Heck, I change into scrubs (which are basically pajamas) within 5 minutes of stumbling into the hospital anyways. So I figure I might as well be super comfy on my quick commute in, and be excited I have something cozy to get into after my shift.

Nothing says comfy around Christmas like a good pair of kodiak socks and Ugg boots!

I know Uggs are one of those things that people either love or hate. Personally, I love them. The ones I'm wearing in this post are from their newer collection - so they have more of a wearable shape to them. But I still love the original Uggs (the ones that look like giant slippers - haha) as well.

What are your thoughts?!? Do you love or hate them?

Holy smokes, I feel like this has been a long time coming.

If you watched my last youtube video (my Gucci Marmont unboxing) you would know that we moved back to Vancouver (our home base) back in August. It seems like forever ago now. I find myself re-watching our vlogs and blog posts from my year away and it really feels like a dream. Almost like I'm looking at someone else's life. I clearly still can't get over how lucky I am to have experienced as much as I did. Although I did moved back home with a few extra pounds on me - which isn't good - I'm still working to get those extra London lumps off.

But here we are, back in Vancouver, in a new apartment (which we found and moved into within a few days of landing back on home ground!). The last few months have been full of settling in, exploring our new area, lots of family time, decorating the new apartment and getting back into normal work life. Work is kicking my butt at the moment. Hence the lack of posts over here. I knew it would be difficult re-learning my job after being away for a whole year but I really under estimated how exhausted it would make me feel. For the first 4 weeks back at work, Ken literally had to make me dinner, bring it to me on the couch, peel me off the couch and tuck me into bed each night. I barely knew which way was up. But things are getting much better now and starting to feel like "normal" again.

If you follow me on snapchat (aandreaclare) or Instagram (aandreaclare) you probably already have a good idea of what our new place looks like. But I thought I'd compile a few of the photos here on the blog both for me to look back on and to share with you! We love our new place. It's in a great area and is in a heritage building (HELLO french doors, old hardwood floors!)

I hope you enjoyed my little update. I still have a ton of our travel photos to share but I'm desperately trying to get through our video footage over the next few days before I start pushing those out. You can watch the first few videos from Switzerland, Venice and Rome HERE :)

Make sure to let me know what you think :)

Wow, it's been a while! Who knew moving countries and starting work again would be so exhausting and time consuming!

I thought I'd ease myself back in slowly with a fun youtube video featuring my latest handbag purchase.  The Gucci Marmont WOC in Dusty Pink!

Thank you to everyone that has stuck around during this crazy transition! I really appreciate it!

P.S I post on Snapchat (aandreaclare) nearly daily - so follow me over there for more regular updates until I get my butt back in gear over here :)

Plaid shirt - From Ken's old collection of plaid shirts :)

September 18th. The day this world became a littler weirder.

I know everyone says it, but I really don't feel my age. Both Ken and I are very young at heart and still feel about 20 years old. I don't think that's something that will change anytime soon. I can just image us at 90 years old pranking one another in our wheel chairs, haha. But to us, that's sounds pretty dang awesome.

Since my birthday fell on the Sunday after the wedding (read post from the wedding weekend here, here, here), we didn't plan anything too crazy. Truth be told, it was the day after one of Ken's good work friends weddings, so we had a feeling we'd be feeling pretty sluggish and dehydrated from all the celebratory drinks and late night dancing. However, we were pleasantly surprised to have woken up feeling pretty damn good! We took advantage of our lack of hangover and decided to make good use of the day - it was my birthday after all!

We made our way down the the strip in Gibson's to get a look at the water and to find some grub. Since Gibson's is such tiny area, we ended up running into a handful of the other surviving guests and made a lunch date of it. Ken and I had some tasty fish tacos and chilli lime shrimp - nothing like fresh seafood by the sea. YUM!

black coffee and cappuccino

With full bellies, the group separated, said our goodbyes, and we headed from a cup of joe (we were feeling good considering the night we had before - but a good strong coffee was certainly in order). While having coffee, we realized we had a good few hours to spend before the rain would set in again. A few days earlier we spit balled the idea of heading out to a ranch for a trail ride, but didn't book anything because we weren't really sure how energetic we were going to be feeling. So we made the last minute call to the farm and we were please to hear they could take us right away! So we guzzled our coffee, headed home to change into long pants and boots, and head over to the farm!

I grew up riding (mostly english, but western is always fun too), so getting to hop on a beautiful horse for the afternoon was heaven. Is funny how some days just seamlessly fall into place. It really makes me question my type A behaviour of constantly trying to plan every detail of every day.

It was a very happy birthday indeed.

This guys name is Snowy. He is 20 years old and is the sweetest of horses. He even gave kisses when he got treats. I think he knew I had a soft spot for him because he would nudge me so hard he nearly knocked me over - trying to get me to give him more treats! haha. I think he was saying "hey lady, I know you like me, gimme that apple! NOW!"

Gibsons sure had a lot to offer. We loved getting away from the city for a few days to take in all the fresh air. From London to Vancouver to farm life - all within one month! We sure are lucky to be living this life!

I still can't believe the luck we had with the sunshine over the weekend in Gibson's (See our float plane journey there HERE). I mean, it's called the Sunshine Coast but lets be honest, we are still in Canada or Rain-couver. Especially because we were attending an outdoor wedding on the Saturday, we were a little sad to see a forecast of nothing but pouring rain all weekend.

The morning of the wedding, we thought there was no way this outdoor wedding was going to happen. It rained more over night than it had in a very long time and all I could do was imagine their beautiful farm setting completely flooded. But not long before we were to leave our cabin for the ceremony, the clouds started to part. Everyone gathered near the barn where the "I do's" were to take place, huddling under the awning, hiding from the slight sprinkle that was still coming down. I kid you not, within about 1 minute of the bride entering the barn, it stopped. AND not only that, but the sun peeked out from behind the clouds at the exact same moment they began their vows. I couldn't believe it. All of a sudden we had beautiful sun shine and it was directly on the bride and groom! That's got to be good luck, right?!?

I don't think we saw another drop of rain all day. It was perfect.

what to wear when visiting canada

Ok, so I know we are out in the forest, but I just can't help putting together an outdoor chic outfit. Even if we were just going for a walk and to grab a bite of lunch. You can't beat a simple sweater, denim cutoff and gumboot outfit. Even Ken liked this outfit! He thought the boots were pretty darn cute.

what to wear this fall

This sweater was actually another vintage find from my last minute thrift pick up I spoke about in my  last POST. It's by Nasty Gal, which is a brand I've known about for ages but never bought anything from. I initially thought it was meant to be worn the other way around - with the V in the front... Maybe it is mean to be warn in the front, but I much prefer it in the back. Who knows. With the V in the back, it's still cute and playful, but doesn't show all the goods ;)

I apologize if I've been over doing it with the vintage finds - I know it can be a little frustrating seeing items on a blog and not be able to buy the same thing.  But the truth is, my blog is about what I REALLY wear. I'm a vintage addict and I love a good buy, so more often than not, one or more of the items I'm wearing are vintage finds.  Anyone else out there as vintage crazy as I am?
