Hopping all over London on the blog this week. From Primrose Hill to the South Bank.  Ken and I are trying to see as much of London as we can for a few reasons : 1) we are heading home for a few weeks in the near future so we are trying to take in as much as we can while still here and 2) we plan to travel and TON before we return home permanently in August.  So although we will still have our flat in Notting Hill, we don't actually plan to be there much over the next few months.  It's good and bad. Obviously I am incredibly lucky to be able to travel the world for the next few months, but I also LOVE where we live in the London and I just want to soak it all up before we move back to Vancouver.

Anywho, a few weeks ago we planned out a big day out. It was a pretty chilly day (as you will see in an upcoming vlog), so we bundled up with lots of layers before heading to the tube.

The first stop on the itinerary was to get a good look at the London Bridge. We ended up walking along a small bridge not far from the London bridge because it was closer to our next stop but also because I wanted to snap a few photos from across the water (typical blogger). Although it was incredibly windy and cloudy, we were happy as clams to be starring at that dream boat of a bridge.

Once we made it across the bridge to the south bank of London, we made our way to Borough Market. It was jam packed in there so we didn't get any photos inside, but take my word for it, it's worth a visit. We sipped on old fashion cider, 3 cheese sandwiches, mulled wine and salt beef sandwiches.

Ken and I love to eat and drink our way through new places, cities and markets so we were in heaven. However, if you're not into eating until you feel like you'll burst, there are also a few non-food stands throughout the market.

tate modern museum

Once we felt we couldn't possibly fit another sandwich or donut in us, we waddled over to the Tate Modern Museum which is only a few minutes walk away. We only spent about 30 minutes inside because we quickly realised we aren't modern art people. As I said on my snapchat (aandreaclare) I just don't get it! A lot of it was very futuristic and frankly, a bit odd.  Personally, I could spend all day in the natural history museum or the bristish museum but 30 minutes at the Tate was more than enough.

What to see in London

After the museum, we made our way back over the water via the Millennium bridge. The Millennium bridge is a walking bridge that stretches over the Thames with a view of St. Paul's as you cross - it's beautiful!  It was SO windy and cold the day we did it, we ended up racing across it in search of some refuge from the wind but I'm so glad we got to cross it. On the other side of the bridge, you walk straight into St. Paul's.  We didn't go in because we had plans to visit another day but even seeing it from the outside is breathe taking.

It was a full day of back to back sights (and sandwiches :)) but the day turned out perfectly. If you're planning a trip to London and only have one day to spend in the area, I would really recommend our little itinerary! If you get a good start on the day, you'll certainly have enough time to hit all the same spots.

boho inspired temporary pink hair colour

Many moons ago, I had a sudden urge to change my hair style. I knew I didn't want to chop it (although I've always been curious to know what it would be like to have short hair) and a new style wasn't going to scratch this itch. A chat with my sister and a glass of wine later - before I knew it, I had blue hair. You can see the whole post on that HERE (and see more here, here, here and here). Although I LOVED it at the time, I had a heck of a time getting the stuff out. My hair is naturally light in colour and tends to hold colour quite well, so it drank up that blue hair dye and didn't want to let go. The box said it would wash out in 2-3 washes yet 3 weeks later, I was still trying to scrub it out.

So, when a company called Brite Organix offered to send me a second go at the coloured hair thing, I didn't flinch. I opted for the pastel pink and absolutely loved it. The best part is that it's also vegan, cruelty free and organic!

wash out pastel pink hair colour

Of all the products they sent me, I decided to use this one. It's a one day colour made for blondes and worked like a dream on my light hair. The product itself is a liquid but turns into a foam as you dispense it into your hands. If you're worried about the mess, fear not! It was completely mess free, didn't stain my hands, and once it dried - didn't transfer at all. It's the perfect pastel pink that I was hoping for. I kept telling Ken that I felt like a character from My Little Pony. It seriously made my day.

Keep in mind it is a one day wash out, so if you live in a rainy area, it may transfer to your clothes if it gets wet. However, when dry, it did not transfer AT ALL. I even went to bed on a white pillow case and inspected it when I woke and - nothing! Washing it out was a dream. I didn't have to scrub to get it out and it didn't dry my hair out either.

pink shampoo and conditioner

I'm tempted to try the shampoo and conditioner as well (shown above). It works by gradually adding colour to light hair and or by helping to hold colour in hair that is already pink. They also make these products in blue and purple and are available for those with dark hair as well.

I'll definitely be trying it out again. What do you think? Yay or nay on the My Little Pony hair?

Since Ken and I are heading back to Vancouver on the weekend, we've planned a jam packed week full of London must-do's. Primrose hill was one of the spots we planned to visit a few weeks back but had decided to hold off because it was still pretty cold. When we woke up on Sunday, we thought we had picked the perfect day for the picnic. Blue skies and it felt like spring. Although it looked perfect, we couldn't believe how cold it was at the top of the hill! And it was all thanks to the freezing wind. Lond story short, we didn't last long at our picnic. We ended up gobbling up our food and finishing our bottle of champagne probably a little too quickly.

Directly from our picnic we headed to the closest pub we could find and warmed up by the fire with a  drink in hand. What was suppose to be a quick trip to the pub turned into an all night event once Ken realized he was sitting next to Alan Ford. If you like British films, you might be familiar with him.  Ken couldn't believe it. Ken offered to order him and his friends and a round of drinks and before we knew it, we had been chatting with the group for hours and hours. It was quite the day! Keep an eye on my snapchat to see what else we get up to this week. My user name is aandreaclare :)

how to style a fur coat

Coat - Vintage (similar faux fur options here, here, here)
Belt - Vintage (similar one here)
Hat - Vintage (love this one)
Denim - Topshop
Boots - Asos (sold out - similar ones here)
Sunglasses - Forever21

This faux fur coat was one of the first things I bought when I arrived in London in October. I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted it in a tiny vintage shop not far from our flat. Although it's incredibly warm, it's not exactly the most feminine or flattering shape. Some days I actually prefer the shapeless look, but it's nice to switch it up by adding a belt to cinch in the waist. Especially paired with the skinny pant and fitted boot. I also added a hat to cover my greasy hair (a necessary accessory) that is the perfect addition to the ensemble!

I mentioned in my last post that I often go for sunglasses with some angle to them to balance the roundness of my face. Well, that went out the door the day we took these photos. I think it's because I was wearing a hat that the round (lenses) on round (face) didn't bother me so much. What do you think? Can I pull it off? Or do you prefer sunglasses like here, here, here....?

the best boyfriend jeans

Like most pants, denim can be a frustrating piece of clothing to buy. It's one of those items that you have to try 100 pairs to find the perfect fit. At this stage in my hunt for the perfect boyfriend denim, I feel like I've tried at least that many (not actually, but it sure feels like it).  Ideally, I'd like something that has a loose fit, some distressing and a nice light blue colour.  Because I am more of a pear shape and carry more weight in my hips and thighs, I find most denim fits tight on the leg which isn't the most flattering on my body shape.

After months of searching, I finally found a pair that I LIKE - not love - but like enough to keep, haha. The pair I ended up going with are these oversized distressed pair from Asos. They aren't my dream denim, so I'm still on the hunt, but they will do for now.  I've linked a few others that I have my eye on, incase you're also on a mad hunt for the perfect pair of jeans at the moment. If you already own your perfect pair, where did you get them?! I'd love to know!

This coffee shop in particular called Haminados, located just a few minutes walk from our flat, is one of those places that feels like home in London. The owner is quick to recognise us now that we've made a habit of visiting. He is the sweetest man with a ton of corky comments that he throws at customers - he's a character!

The day we shot these photos we asked him if it was ok that we took a few photos outside the shop and he said "of course, act as if you are home when you are here!" So we do and we love it.

I've been going on a sunglasses spree lately. There are so many styles that I love (and love on other people), but they never look right on me. I'm very aware of my round face, so I'm always looking for something with an angle to it to counter balance the cabbage patch look, haha! These clear framed ones from ASOS were a pair I wasn't sure of at first, but I think they are growing on me.

I'm lusting over the classic Lennon Rayban's, but again, not so sure about sporting a round lens on this round mug of mine. We will see, I may go for it when we are back in Vancouver.
