CHANEL CAP TOE FLATS DUPE

I just had to quickly share this awesome find before the weekend. I found these little beauties on ASOS last week and fell in love. Obviously I would LOVE to own the Chanel version (in every style!), but lets be honest, I'm not working at the moment! Haha. (If you're new to my blog : I took a year off work to move to London to be with my fiancĂ©, but my job is waiting for me and I'll be back at it very soon).

Of course, there are tons of dupes for the Chanel flats but these ones caught my eye in particular for a few reasons. 1 : I love the slingback style, versus a ballet flat. 2 : the price tag (they are $30! Can't beat that!) and 3 : The colour. Topshop also has a great look-a-like but they offer a ballet version and a heel version and are more of a cream colour. Personally I prefer the beige colour - I just think it goes with everything. I wore them the other day with this red wrap floral dress from ASOS the other day and absolutely loved the look.

NORDSTROM SALE PICKS - BEAUTY

Here we are, the last of my Nordstrom sale picks! Everything is so tempting! But I had had to pick one thing, I would go with the Bareminerals foundation kit. I recently picked up the original formula when we were last in Vancouver, and have really been loving it. When applied with a kabuki brush, it  gives pretty good coverage and lovely glowy finish to the skin. It's so different to my usual L'oreal Infallible foundation that I love so much.

Make sure to check out my HOME DECOR and FASHION picks as well!

Grab things while they are still available! Items fly off the shelf in this crazy sale!

Seville was another one of our unplanned visits. Since we were travelling from Mallorca to London, we figured we might as well just stop over a few nights in Seville. Why not? We would be passing right by it anyways. We were both getting pretty exhausted and were about ready to get home, but we couldn't help ourselves. So we switched from searching for flights to London to flights to Seville, Spain.

(At this point, I feel like we have a good handle on the best spots to visit in Spain. I think we might need to do a Spanish cities round up of all our absolute favourites. Let me know if that would be something of interest.)

We only booked two nights in Seville because, like I said before, we were pretty pooped and a little home sick. But we were still so excited to experience another spot in Spain. We arrived in the afternoon, checked in to our beautiful boutique hotel (a whole post on that coming soon), freshened up, got changed out of our airplane clothes and hit the ground running. Our very first stop was one of the oldest tapas bar in Seville called El Rinconcillo. If you follow on snapchat, you may have seen it there. We ordered smoked cod, cheese and ham. And they were all SO good.  The bar has a cool indoor outdoor feel, with walls lined with tile that looks like it has been there for hundreds of years.  It was exactly what we had in mind for lunch. Eating inside a little piece of history.

The streets in Seville are absolutely beautiful. Full of colour, intricate details, huge doorways. A photo op at every corner! We spent most of the day just wandering around, getting lost (as usual) and stopping for some wine to people watch.

In the evening we did what we do best in a new city - find a rooftop bar. I think we have managed to do this in almost every city we've visited now.  We ended up picking one that had a view of the Cathedral at sunset. Quite a few of the nearby hotels have rooftop options as well.  I would make sure to get there early though, it was very busy when we got there just before sunset.

I hope that gave you a little taste of Seville! It was a beautiful spot and we are so glad we made the stop.

I hope you're having a lovely Thursday!

MALLORCA, SPAIN TRAVEL DIARY 2016

I'm so excited to be sharing our little travel diary today. It's taken me a little while to get it together, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. We almost didn't do a travel diary for this trip (it's a lot more work than it looks!) but I'm so happy we have this to look back on now.

Enjoy!

Instead of jumping back into a travel post today, I thought I'd share something a little more recent. From this past weekend in fact! Our days here in London are starting to feel very numbered. I swear I get more and more sad everyday! Not that I'm not excited to get back to Vancouver, but we just love London SO much. It breaks my heart to think it'll likely be years before we make our way back here.

Anyways, we are really trying to make good use of our remaining days by knocking off a few activities we've been meaning to do. One of those things was to see a few plays in the east end of London. Last week we went to see Aladdin with my family and on Saturday we went to see The Book of Mormon. And let me tell you, it was a hoot. Not for everyone, that's for sure, but we loved it!

We opted to see a matinee show for a change. We actually much preferred the early show over an 8pm show. It was so nice to leave the theatre and still have the whole day to spend in Soho. We made a pit stop a pub for a cold beer before wandering to find a little spot to take a few photos for the blog.

From there we made our way towards one of our favourite cocktails posts in Chinatown. It's called Opium, but if you blink - you'll miss it! We never would have known there was a cocktail spot there without a friend showing us the spot. We have been there several times now, and we still miss the door every time. It's a very discrete black door with a tiny sign that says "OPIUM" on it, with a huge security guard standing at the front. They always ask if we have been there before, if we have reservations, all sorts of questions. We must be saying something right because we've never been turned away, haha.  By this time we were starving so we ordered a few pieces of dim sum along with our cocktails. I had a delicious lychee martini and Ken had an Old Fashioned.

Once the hangry attitude wore off (that's referring to me, not Ken - haha), we walked over to dinner.  If you live in London, you probably know all about this place, but for us Canadians, we still go gaa-gaa over it. It's called Burger and Lobster. OMG. It's the only burger I will eat. We split the original burger and a 1LBS lobster. We got the lobster bibs and everything, it's so fun! I've included my Snapchat from the day down below - give it a watch to see the whole spread - it's pretty impressive. But don't watch if your hungry, haha. Toucher.

After dinner we rolled ourselves out of the restaurant and hopped into an Uber home. I was so full I literally had to pop the top two buttons on my skirt open - classy, I know.  I was so happy to hit the hay that night - fat and happy :)

NORDSTROM SALE PICKS - HOME DECOR

I just couldn't resist and little online shopping.  Especially because we are making the move back to Vancouver SO soon, I couldn't help sharing a few of my decor picks and things I would love to include in our next space. I've been apartment hunting for the last few weeks so I've definitely got decor on the brain.

If decor isn't your thing - don't worry, I've got you covered! I have a couple more Nordstrom Sale posts lined up for the coming week, so keep an eye out for those!

Happy shopping!!

GOLDILOCKS

Let's be honest, hair extensions are a little weird. Clipping in hair that isn't your own? Weird, right? Well I got over that pretty quickly when I was gifted this set from Irresistible Me.  I still haven't warmed up to the idea of wearing them on a daily basis (and I don't think I ever will) but I have loved using them on 2nd or 3rd hair days when I'm doing something other than my usual loose curls. More often than not, I clip them in for days I want to braid my hair.  Since I have baby soft and thin hair, braids with just my natural hair doesn't cut it. They look so thin!

So far I've been really impressed with this set. I ordered mine in the Golden Blonde (#14) 20 inches, 200 grams.  The colour is a little bit off, but I kind of like the dimension it adds. The 200 grams was definitely over kill in my fine hair.  It is SO much hair. I literally don't have enough space on my head to clip it all in! In these photos I'm using about 3/4 of the hair and it was plenty. Even with all the hair on my head, they are super comfortable. The clips don't slide on my super slippy hair and don't tug or pull on your own hair either.

I also love that these extensions are made of human hair (again, weird, I know). Ken is always asking me "Are you wearing Michelle's hair today?" haha. He wanted to put a name to the hair I guess.

Anyways, what this means is that you can style it the same way you would your natural hair. Wash, curl, straighten, dye it - whatever your heart desires! It also means they'll last a lot longer than fake hair extensions.

All in all, I've been really happy with my first hair extension experience! I can't say that they'll be something that I reach for on a regular basis, but I really love the mermaid effect I get when I add them to braids.

What are your thoughts on extensions?

A GUT FEELING

how to dress like a blogger

Skirt - Vintage Levi's (Similar here)
Shoes - Old Navy

Welcome to Seville, Spain! Picking up from where we left off in my last post in Deia.  So from that tiny slice of heaven, we STILL weren't ready to head home to London. And since (at that point) we only had a few short months left before we moved back to Vancouver, we wanted to make the most of our travel time and see as much of the world as we could.

We will be back to reality before we know it! Back to my full time position at the hospital, a few weeks holiday per year and a wedding to plan. We aren't likely to be travelling like this again for some time :(

Much like many of the places we have ended up, we picked Seville on a bit of a whim. We spent some time looking at flight and hotel prices, but ended up picking it on a gut feeling.  It's still hard for me to believe that I survived travelling like that. No plans, last minute bookings, racing to the airport, missing trains. I am SUCH a planner and a worry wart, so I don't know what came over me. But I have to say, it has completely changed the way we travel. Once I got over the idea that the world won't end if we miss a train, I actually loved the spontaneous travel. It's lead us to some amazing places, friendly people and delicious food!

If you also follow me on youtube, you may have seen me haul this 3/4 length top from Zara. I snagged it in the sale last season and even thought it was freezing cold in London at the time, I knew it would come in handy for our travels ahead.  I mentioned in the video that I hadn't figured out how I was going to style it because it's an awkward length for my body type. I said it many times before, but I tend to carry my extra weight in my legs (pear shape), so tops that hit at the widest part of my body, generally aren't flattering. I made it work by keeping the top open (rather than tying it closed) and pairing it with a skirt that would show off my waist. By doing this I've created an illusion that my legs start at my belly button, rather than at the bottom of the top. The longer the legs the better!

This denim skirt has been such a summer staple for me. I've always loved my cut-off shorts, but the skirt version is much better suited to my body type. I feel more comfortable and much more confident  in the skirt version and have been wearing it non stop. Adding denim to any outfit instantly makes it much more casual and laid-back.
