A few months ago I thought it would be a good idea to switch up my facial cleansing routine. Bad idea. I have hypersensitive skin that does not react well to change. I have always known this but I guess I was just in need of a switch up. Long story short, my skin broke out like crazy (I felt like I was in high school again – it was that bad). I ended up eliminating one product at time to try to isolate which product my skin wasn’t agreeing with. After about a month of trail and error, I concluded – they all broke me out. So, I got rid of everything I was using, and went with the basics. This Acne Prone wash by Neutrogena had my skin clear again within one week. It was a god sent.
I have also been loving crisp white nail polish this summer. I can’t say that this Joe Fresh brand from Superstore is the best of quality. I certainly wouldn’t buy it again. Most every time I wore it, it chipped within a day. However, I’ll keep using it until it’s empty and it’s time to try a new one.
I should really do a separate post on this product. It is amazing.
For years I had been using a gradual self tanner by Nivea. It was awesome – easy to use, gave a streak-free glow, it was cheap and I loved the smell of it. So when the time for short shorts and bikinis came around this year, I was in full panic (ok, maybe exaggerating a little there…) when I couldn’t find my beloved self tanner ANYWHERE – I looked for weeks! I ended up trying both the Jergens gradual tan lotion as well as this foam version. The lotion version was just that, a lotion. It literally gave zero colour, even after many days of application.
The foam version however, worked like a dream. I love it for a few reasons : 1) it isn’t orange 2) it drys within 1 minute of putting it on so I can use it even when I’m in a rush and need to get dressed right away 3) I love the smell and 4) it’s relatively fool proof. If you wondering what it looks like on, check out some of my recent outfit posts, I’m wearing it in all the pictures I don’t look like a sickly ghost 🙂
NXY Mega Shine Lipgloss in Dolly Pink
I can’t lie, I have only had this product for a few weeks now but I already know I love it. The swatch looks scary, but when used sparingly it gives the perfect muted hot pink lip. The consistency is a bit sticky but I actually prefer that. I find it stays on a lot longer and I don’t have to re-apply as often. Check out THIS and THIS post to see the colour on my lips.
I happened to stumble across these boots on a random shopping day at the beginning of the summer. They were the last ones there and were on clearance for $40. It was kind of meant to be. I feel like my most loved pieces are discovered when I’m not looking for anything in particular. Funny how that happens.
I’ve worn them with so many outfits this summer. From cutoffs to girly dresses. They add the perfect edge to every outfit. Everyone should own at least one pair of studded/embellished booties. And if you can get them at a rock bottom price, even better!
This fizzy mango drink from Presidents Choice has been a favourite of both mine and my boyfriends all summer long. It keeps my hands out of the snacks, gives me that sweet kick I’m always craving and the carbonation gives me the feeling of a full belly. I’ve also been using it as a drink mix to add flavor to my homemade margaritas. And when I said “I’ve been using it”, I really mean by boyfriend. He is my professional at-home margarita maker.
Frozen red seedless grapes. HOLY SMOKES. So addicting. I simiply give them a rinse, throw them into a big ziplock bag and let them freeze over night. They are the perfect sugar kick that is oh-so refreshing on a hot summers day.
What have you been loving this summer? Let me know in the comments below!
