As I’ve mentioned before, Ken (my fiancé) is currently living in the UK. I am still here in Vancouver (although, not for long) crashing my mom’s spare bedroom until I take off for London. Luckily, he gets decent breaks in his school schedule that allow him to come home for a few weeks at a time. This summer, he happened to get about 5 weeks here in Vancouver, which has been SO nice.
Although my mom would love to have the both of us crashing her spare bedroom, we always like to rent a few apartments on Air B&B during his stay to make it feel like the good ol’ days. We actually lived in the Olypmic Village for a few years before he left for London, so being in the city centre, always feels like home. We’ve always rented apartments in the Olympic Village – until this visit. This time around, we picked 3 difference areas to rent apartments in, just to experience the other areas of Vancouver we don’t really branch out to very often.
This gastown apartment has to be one of my favourite places we’ve rented yet. It has such a cool, lofty, retro vibe that really drew me to it. It was pure luck that we got it too! Everything really fell into place.
This place really felt home-like. The couple that lives there have family pictures up, lots of cool books and other odds and ends throughout the apartment. I’m a super nosey person, so I always like renting a place that feels more like a home than a hotel. Not only because I like to look around, but also because it just feels more cozy. I probably spent the first 30 minutes we were in the place looking through the fridge and the cupboards. Ken actually had to tell me to stop poking around and to mind my own business.
[These french doors from the bedroom stole my heart!]
Have you ever used Air B&B or have you rented your home on the site? If so, do you hate when nosey people (like me!) rent your place? haha
