THE CHATEAU + AROUND TOWN – FONTAINEBLEAU, FRANCE

It’s still so crazy to me that this view is just a few steps from my front door. A massive Chateau with so much history, is just a 5 minute walk away. So weird. It wasn’t exactly a fairytale getting here (Planning a wedding + an abroad move at the same time is not recommended!) but it sure feels like one now.

Sometime in the first few days that Ken and I were here in Fontainebleau, we wandered down to the Chateau, which is the big tourist attraction in town. It was quite late in the day so we didn’t go in this time, but it’s just as magical from the outside. I’m sure it pretty difficult to appreciate in photos, but it’s gigantic! I took a tour a few days later and it took about 2.5 hours to get through a very small section. I can certainly see why people make the day trip from Paris to this tiny town. It’s full of character! (Although I wouldn’t recommend a lengthy stay – it’s VERY small).

This corner is one of my favourites. The lower level of the building is a flower shop owned by a cute older gentleman. He’s always very eager to help me when I’m in there and the shop is beautiful! He also has a bird cage inside with a few tiny bird and one budgie that lives outside the cage! He’s a very curious thing but doesn’t bother any customers. I initially thought he was fake a jumped a little when I got close to inspect him! I’m not going to lie, I do wander in there from time to time just to get my dose of cute animals for the day ๐Ÿ™‚

The picture above is the town center or the main strip. There are a few bakeries, the carousel (shown above), a few restaurants and bars and…..well, that’s about it. This is the heart of the town. much smaller than I imaged before we got here but I love it. It’s going to be so beautiful in the spring!

Just a quick little post from small town France! I hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of our new home! Make sure to follow along on Instagram (@aandreaclare) where I post lots of bits and pieces from our day and around town ๐Ÿ™‚

I also just posted a vlog on my youtube channel – it’s a “home day” vlog but I hope you enjoy it ๐Ÿ™‚

The decor at this place was amazing with great seats and friendly staff. My fiancรฉ and I just got married here and I could wait no longer to post my heartfelt appreciation to the staff at NYC wedding venues for their tremendous effort in making our day the most special day of our lives.
