FEBRUARY FAVORITES

How does this happen every month?! I didn’t even realize I should be working on this post until I saw a bunch of February Favourites pop up in my youtube feed! I feel like this month is my old lady version of favourites. Especially this first item…

FYI – none of this is sponsored – in fact, I’m one of those bloggers that doesn’t really do it as a job or get paid for anything – I just do it because I like it 🙂 If I am ever paid to mention something (if that ever happens – haha!) – I will always tell you 🙂

1)  Philips fabric shaver

I was embarrassingly excited to get this item in my mail box.  A hand held machine to remove all the bobbles on your sweaters and coats to make them brand new again! I mentioned in my Paris thrift haul that I picked up this beige Zara coat for 7 euros! I was so excited! But I thought of it kind of as a project – one that I wasn’t sure was going to work out. But for 7 Euros – why not try! It was very well loved and needed a little TLC. I took it home and gave it a good wash and ordered this fabric shaver from Amazon for a few Euros. As soon as it was delivered, I opened up the box and had to give it a try! Thankfully it came with batteries so there was no time wasted! Next thing I know – I’m late for dinner with Ken and I’ve been de-pilling everything I can! I spent a good chunk of time on this coat alone and I loved every second of it! I’m telling you, it was oddly satisfying to de-pill this thing! If you’re the type of person that loves to vacuum and gets joy out of hearing those crunched up cheerios get sucked up and into the vacuum bag – you’ll love doing this too.

This is 30 years old people. A tiny de-pilling machine was one of the highlights of the day!

The one I picked up is HERE if you interested in some old lady entertainment 🙂

2) My Topshop Grey Scarf

This thing has been a staple to my wardrobe this month. I actually can’t believe how cold it has been here in France! Much colder than it usually is back home in Canada! Mind you, we are from the Westcoast of Canada, so we are accustom to very mild weather. But I have to say I did not expect -10 degree weather when we moved to France. It’s freezing! And on top of that, our house doesn’t heat that well. So most days, I’m in two of Ken’s fleece sweaters, leggings, my Ugg boots and a scarf – INSIDE THE HOUSE! I feel like I haven’t been warm in weeks – haha. But really, I haven’t been warm in weeks. Anyways, when your already cold before you even leave the house – a scarf and complete winter gear is necessary. I have a few other scarf options here but 99% of the time, I reach for this grey one. It’s an oldie but a goodie and goes with anything I’m wearing. It’s just so simple, classic and warm! It’s also a perfect length for wrapping around the neck just once in a haphazard way that give thats easy breezy look to an outfit.

3) Our Nespresso Machine

Again, I feel like I’m really showing my age when I get excited about coffee machines. Ah well.

For years and years, I woke up excited to make up my instant coffee in my thermos and drive into work. It’s what got me out of bed. Don’t get my wrong, I’m definitely still an instant coffee gal – in fact I prefer it from time to time. But lately I’ve been dreaming about coffee from our Nespresso machine! It kind of reminds me of the our days in our very first apartment (which was a loooong time ago – like 8 years?) when we had the same machine. We really only bought it because we thought we were big kids and needed a proper coffee machine 🙂 – but it turns out the pods were quite expensive and we were going through them SO quickly! And since we were pretty fresh out of school and we had no money – we hardly ever used it. Luckily, there are plenty of no-name brand versions here in our grocery stores so we have fallen back in love with Nespresso! I always feel European when I make my small and creamy coffee each morning and again in the afternoon with a snack. It’s the small things that make us happy sometimes – coffee is certainly one of those things for me and my Nespresso machine has just amped up that love a little bit 🙂

4) UGGs (or look-a-likes)

Ok, I know people aren’t going to like this one but it was either wear these or risk frost bite on my toes! I’d quite like to keep my toes so, I bought myself a pair of look-a-like Uggs in town a few weeks ago. I don’t think I’ve touched my Acne Studio boots since. I do have a real pair of Uggs back home but opted not to pack them just because they are so bulky and I really didn’t think they would be so necessary! But they definitely are. I wear them pretty much everywhere we go and in the house. I don’t mind wearing my shoes in the house if it means my feet stay warm 🙂

5) I don’t have a picture of this one because it’s a person! A fellow youtuber!

His name is Christopher Allen and if you aren’t already watching his videos, you should. Start today! I was trying to think of a good way of describing why I love watching his videos and the best I could come up with was this : Ok, so I wouldn’t consider myself a religious person. I don’t go to church each week or have anything that I participate in regularly. But in a way I feel like watching Christophers videos each week is my version of going to church! Does that sound totally weird? It might. But watching his videos has such an impact on me. He has such an amazing attitude, outlook on life and has SO much kindness in him – it’s incredible. I come away from his videos feeling light, happy, and ready to conquer the world and do good! He puts such a pep in my step. His goal with his channel is to spread kindness and boy is he doing a good job. Love that guy 🙂 He also lives with his partner, Steven and dog, Bubbas who occasionally make an appearance as well. It’s just the best. I can’t wait for the video to be published each Sunday 🙂

I hope this wasn’t too boring. Generally I like to share fashion or beauty related items and take pretty pictures of everything but this month has been more about function over fashion. Fingers crossed this cold front passes quickly and I can share some stuff that is a little more exciting next month 🙂

ALSO! I did a video version of this post on my youtube channel – You can check that out HERE or click the video below to watch 🙂

I would also love to see you over on my Instagram – I work SO hard to make it pretty but also “real life” – so it would make my day if you followed over there 🙂 – you can find me HERE or @aandreaclare
